MRS. FIELD'S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

1 cup butter
3/4 cups sugar
3/4 cups brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream together then add:

2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups flour
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup nuts (optional)

Bake at 375* for 10-12 minutes.  They won't look done.

PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES

1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup peanut butter

Cream together.  Then add...

2 eggs
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 baking powder
2 cups flour
(1/4 to 1/2 cup milk if too dry)

Roll into balls and place on cookie sheet.  Flatten with a fork, criss cross.  Bake 375* for 10-12 minutes.

CINNAMON SNAPS


3/4 cup shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
Additional sugar

In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and brown sugar.  Add egg and molasses.  Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture.  Roll into 1 inch balls, then roll in additional sugar.

Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.  Bake at 350* for 10-12 minutes or until cookies are set and tops are cracked.  Remove to wire racks to cool.  Yield: 4 1/2 dozen.

SUGAR COOKIES


½ cup butter

1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
½ tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt

Cream butter and sugar together, then blend in the egg. Add flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla. Mix and form into 2 balls. Chill 1-2 hours until dough is easy to handle. Roll dough one ball at a time to 1/8 inch thick and cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Makes approximately 2 dozen cookies.

Butter Cream Frosting

3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup stick butter or margarine, softened
1 ½ tsp vanilla
1-2 tbsp milk
